Admission Coordinator

We are seeking a skilled Admitting Clerk to join our team at Northwell Health. As an Admitting Clerk, you will be responsible for greeting patients and/or visitors, interviewing patients/significant others, and obtaining all relevant demographic and insurance data. You will also be responsible for entering all pre-admission and admission information into the computer, preparing addressograph plates, and assigning bed placement. Additionally, you will notify physicians and nursing stations as to admission of patients, provide interpretation of hospital regulations to patients, and direct or assist patients to appropriate departments or assigned rooms.

• Greet patients and/or visitors to the department in a courteous manner
• Interview patients/significant others and obtain all relevant demographic and insurance data; obtain necessary signatures
• Enter all pre-admission and admission information into computer
• Prepare addressograph plate for use in charging items to patient. Place identification band on patient upon registration to inpatient, ambulatory or emergency room
• Assign bed placement with knowledge of CDE, DOH, JCAHO standards
• Notify physicians and nursing stations as to admission of patients
• Provide interpretation of hospital regulations to patients (i.e., visiting hours, patient services, etc.)
• Direct or assist patients to appropriate department or assigned room, as required
• Enter all discharge information into hospital computer system

• High School Diploma or equivalent, required
• Prior customer service experience, required
• Data entry skills (80 keystrokes per minute), required
• Knowledge of medical terminology, hospital admission, reimbursement procedures and DRG's, preferred
