Job Summary

The primary function of this role is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations in a fast-paced laboratory setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and store specimens according to established procedures, ensuring accurate labeling and handling.
  • Properly explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection methods to patients, using clear and courteous communication.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in using straight needles and butterfly needles, as well as understanding physician orders.
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
  • Pack specimens for transport, adhering to temperature and handling requirements.
  • Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations, attending annual department trainings and answering telephone calls.
Requirements
  • Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment (as required).
  • Minimum 6 months of work experience performing venipunctures in a laboratory or hospital setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
