The University of Maryland Medical System seeks a skilled and compassionate Staff Chaplain to provide spiritual care and support to patients, families, and staff. This part-time position requires a graduate degree in divinity or a related field, ordination, and experience in pastoral care.
Key Responsibilities- Provide pastoral care to patients, families, and staff, adhering to departmental procedures and accepted pastoral practices.
- Consult with professional staff members on patient needs and problems, recommending referrals to outside resources as needed.
- Lead training opportunities and serve as a resource for the University of Maryland, community clergy, and seminary students.
- Participate in regular supervisory sessions with the Pastoral Services Director.
- Master's degree in divinity or a related theological field from an accredited institution.
- Ordination or rostering as a Roman Catholic Priest, Jewish Rabbi, Protestant Clergy, or equivalent designation.
- Board Certification (BCC) and active membership with a nationally recognized spiritual care association.
- Good standing and Letter of Endorsement or letter of recommendation from the applicant's faith group.
- Three years of relevant pastoral experience or equivalent.
- Two units of Clinical Pastoral Education from an accredited ACPE center.
- Knowledge of theology, scripture, counseling skills, comparative religions, canonical law, and church practices.
- Ability to handle confidential issues with integrity and discretion.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient population served.
