About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Surgical First Assistant to join our team at UCHealth. As a Surgical First Assistant, you will play a critical role in providing direct assistance to surgeons during surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Position patients using stabilizing equipment to ensure optimal exposure for surgical procedures while prioritizing patient comfort and safety.
  • Provide visualization of the operative site using various methods, including tissue manipulation, retraction, sponging, suctioning, and irrigation.
  • Utilize appropriate techniques to achieve temporary and permanent hemostasis.
  • Assist with body plane closure, application of wound dressings, and securing of drainage systems.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Surgical Technologist program completion.
  • Certification as a Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) by NBSTSA, Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) by NSAA, or Surgical Assistant-Certified (SA-C) by ABSA.
  • State Surgical Assistant or Surgical Technologist registration.
  • BLS through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with a valid card.
