Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Physician III to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our medical services department, you will be responsible for providing high-quality medical care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and treat individuals with complex medical, psychiatric, and/or behavioral health needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans, ensuring seamless integration of medical services.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care and support.
  • Participate in treatment team process, advocating for the medical needs of individuals served.
  • Provide direction and guidance to treatment teams, ensuring effective problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain accurate and timely documentation, including annual summaries and pre-procedural histories.
  • Prepare annual medical reports for residents, including complete assessments and yearly objectives.
  • Monitor medical trends for individual patients and the SSLC as a whole, providing leadership to correct deficiencies.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of methods and procedures in general medicine, as well as individualized care and treatment plans.
  • Knowledge of medical jurisprudence and ICF-IID standards.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with nurses, direct care staff, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Ability to evaluate patients and implement effective treatment plans in coordination with other personnel.
  • Ability to maintain required continuing medical education hours.
