Education Qualifications:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Current high school students enrolled in a Gwinnett County Public School high school are exempt from the educational requirement.

Experience Qualifications:
Previous experience in industrial or commercial cleaning is preferred.

Skills Qualifications:

Candidates should demonstrate a willingness to learn and effectively perform the custodial care skills and tasks associated with the Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) Custodial Care Program. Proficiency in understanding and following oral and written instructions in English at a minimum 6th grade level is essential. This includes safety instructions, product usage guidelines, and other documentation provided by supervisory staff. Additionally, the ability to collaborate effectively as part of a custodial team is crucial.



Primary Responsibilities:

The individual will be responsible for ensuring that designated areas of school facilities are maintained in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition, executing tasks in accordance with the GCPS Custodial Care Program and under the guidance of supervisory staff.


1.

Carry out assigned cleaning and custodial care tasks as outlined in the schedule provided by the designated supervisor.


2.

Utilize only approved chemicals, supplies, and equipment in compliance with GCPS Policies and Procedures for custodial tasks.


3.

Keep custodial tools and equipment in a clean, sanitary, and safe working condition as per guidelines of the GCPS Custodial Care Program.


4. Open and secure assigned facilities or grounds as instructed by supervisory staff.

5.

Propose alternative cleaning methods, products, tools, or equipment for the GCPS Custodial Care Program and assist in evaluations to identify more efficient or effective options.


6.

Maintain positive and cooperative working relationships with team members, facility staff, and other GCPS employees in all work-related interactions.


7. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this role, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively.

The employee frequently stands, walks, sits, uses hands to touch, handle, or feel, reaches with hands and arms, climbs or balances, and stoops, kneels, or crouches. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
