Exercise Physiologist

As a Cardiac Rehabilitation Specialist at Prisma Health, you will work with cardiac and pulmonary patients in various settings, providing exercise prescriptions and promoting physical activity to help them return to their pre-event level of conditioning. This role requires a strong understanding of cardiac imaging and rehabilitation services, as well as the ability to develop and implement individualized exercise plans.
Key Responsibilities
Provides fitness and lifestyle assessments to determine appropriate exercise levels for patients
Develops and implements exercise prescriptions, instructions, and ongoing re-evaluations until discharge
May provide classroom education to patients on the importance of exercise and increased activity, as well as how to monitor activity, indications, and contraindications
Responsible for monitoring patients during exercise, assessing equipment needs, and providing recommendations to managers
Performs chart reviews to determine appropriate activity levels and communicates plans to other care providers
Recognizes the need for and makes appropriate interdisciplinary referrals
Documents patient physical activity, vitals, and clinical response
Provides patients with self-monitoring tools as appropriate
May perform stress tests, including routine treadmill stress tests, nuclear stress tests, and stress echocardiography
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a science-related field, such as Exercise Science or Public Health
Two years of experience in a related field preferred
BLS certification required
Certification may be required depending on job duties
