Parks Grounds Maintenance Aide 2 Position

Job Summary
Bellevue's Parks and Community Services Department has a unique opportunity for a Grounds Maintenance Aid 2 – Limited Term Employee (LTE). The Grounds Maintenance Program provides site management and support for Bellevue's Community Parks and sports fields. We're looking for an energetic candidate with the desire to grow and learn within our dynamic work group.
Key Responsibilities
- Performs a variety of manual labor tasks in assistance to fully-trained personnel to repair, maintain, operate, and install basic city or park infrastructure systems and/or support events or activities.
- Works under the close supervision of a lead worker, crew leader, or other supervisory personnel.
- Receives direct supervision while on the job site in most cases, but the amount of direct supervision required may diminish as proficiency in task performance and equipment operation increases.
- May work independently on the basis of clear instructions.
Requirements
- High school diploma or a GED equivalent, preferred with 2-4 months of related construction or maintenance labor experience.
- Or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Exposure/experience adhering to safety rules and procedures is desirable.
- Depending on the assignment, may be required to possess a valid Washington driver's license by date of hire. Must have and maintain a good driving record according to city standards.
Working Conditions
- Work involves walking; talking; hearing; using hands to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reaching with hands and arms.
- Pulling, pushing, climbing, standing, bending, or stooping for extended periods.
- Lifting, carrying, or crawling.
- Exposure may include traffic, fumes, chemicals, flying debris, or noise.
- Employees with exposure will be required to provide and wear leather, steel-toed, or equivalent protective footwear (ANSI approved).
