General Statement of Responsibilities

Position Overview

The role of Accountant II is pivotal within the Business Office. This position is responsible for executing a variety of accounting tasks, including the establishment and maintenance of financial records, preparation and examination of trial balances, and the generation of financial statements and reports. The incumbent will also oversee the accounting functions related to the classification and allocation of income and expenditures for ledger postings.

Key Responsibilities

1. Accounting and Financial Duties
  • Conduct and strategize general accounting, reporting, and budgeting for designated accounts.
  • Manage treasury responsibilities.
  • Prepare and finalize audit documentation.
  • Collaborate with Information Technology to develop and sustain dashboard reporting.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for the College's ERP accounting modules.
2. Additional Responsibilities
  • Engage in the formulation and implementation of accounting and fiscal procedures.
  • Post approved documents on designated platforms.
  • Generate and submit Purchase Orders, Journal Entries, and Budget Adjustments.

Qualifications

1. Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field is essential.
  • Experience: A minimum of three years of accounting experience, particularly in fund accounting, budget analysis, and financial statement preparation is required.
2. Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in an educational institution, particularly with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and payroll is advantageous.
  • Possession of a Certified Public Accountant or Certified Public Finance Officer designation is preferred.
Core Competencies
  • Knowledge: Strong problem-solving abilities, proficiency in analyzing transactions, and familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Skills: Competence in accounting practices, organizational and project management skills, and effective communication abilities.
  • Abilities: Capacity to perform detailed work with numerical data, manage multiple projects, and collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
Other Requirements
  • For roles requiring vehicle operation, possession of a valid Oregon Driver's License or the ability to obtain one is necessary.
