We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Coding Specialist II to join our team at SwedishAmerican. The successful candidate will be responsible for determining the appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, CDT, and HCPCS codes for providers and facility services based on clinical documentation.
Key Responsibilities- Determine accurate and compliant codes for inpatient and outpatient services
- Code multiple specialties, including professional component coding
- Develop and maintain coding policies and procedures
- Provide education and training to providers and staff on coding guidelines and best practices
- Participate in coding audits and quality improvement initiatives
- High school diploma or equivalent and medical coding education
- Active coding certification, such as CPC, COC, CIC, CCS, or CCS-P
- Minimum of one year of progressive coding experience
- Experience with coding concepts, including ICD-10-CM, CPT, CDT, and HCPCS
- Extensive knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy and physiology
- Associate degree in a healthcare-related field
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification
- Experience with coding software and systems
