Job Title: School Licensed Nurse

At Aveanna Healthcare, we are seeking a skilled and compassionate School Licensed Nurse to join our team. As a School Licensed Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing direct school nursing services to promote prevention, medical management, and academics.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain standards of nursing while providing care under the supervision of a registered nurse.
  • Perform treatments and/or procedures with skill and competence.
  • Maintain and follow physician orders for any invasive procedure and/or skill, administer medication as per MD order and/or parental consent.
  • Attend Health Plan meetings and school conferences when applicable, assisting with the plan of care under the direction of a physician, registered nurse, school designee, and/or parent.
  • Attend appropriate continuing education programs as per licensure requirements and participate in Aveanna in-servicing and training as offered.
  • Exhibit behavior supporting and promoting students' rights and overall well-being.
  • Follow Aveanna and school board policies and procedures that affect the health, safety, and well-being of students in the school health setting.
  • Report any changes in the student's mental, physical, or environmental condition (including any incidents) to the physician, nursing supervisor, school designee, and parent as applicable.
  • Recognize and report signs of substance abuse, physical abuse, or neglect.
  • Provide a clean and safe environment within the school, including the safe use of equipment, maintain a neat and orderly workspace.
  • Identify appropriate methods for storage of equipment, supplies, and medications.
  • Provide individual teaching and training with students and/or others in an effort to encourage and promote student independence when applicable.
  • Collaborate, coordinate, and supervise services with others in order to promote academics and individualized student needs.
  • Accurately document services provided in accordance with agency policies and procedures on the day the services are rendered.
  • Submit nursing documentation, logs, reports, and timesheets according to company guidelines.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited Diploma, Associate, or Baccalaureate School of Nursing.
  • Current, unrestricted state license as a Licensed Nurse in the state of practice.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in clinical assessments, documentation, and compliance with nursing care and policies and procedures.
Additional State-Specific Requirements:
  • Continuing Education as required by state.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Pediatrics.

  • Good organization and communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to speak, write, read, and understand English.
  • Must be able to travel.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to sufficiently reposition patients and move equipment without assistance.
  • Prolonged walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting.
  • Must be able to sit and climb stairs.
  • Must have visual and hearing acuity.
  • Must have a strong sense of smell and touch.
  • Must be able to appropriately respond physically and mentally to emergency situations in the home or during transport.
Environment:
  • Must be able to function in a wide variety of environments which may involve exposure to allergens and other various conditions.
  • Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases.
