This is a Casual position, working 8-hour shifts on day, evening, or night shifts, with no weekend rotation.

About the Operating Room

Our Operating Room at Southdale is a state-of-the-art facility, performing a wide range of surgeries, including Open Heart, Neuro, Orthopedic, and more.

We serve a diverse patient population, averaging 20,000 cases per year, and are staffed for 315 beds hospital-wide.

About Fairview Health Services

Fairview Health Services is a leading nonprofit healthcare provider, part of M Health Fairview, a partnership between the University of Minnesota, M Physicians, and Fairview Health Services.

We offer a comprehensive range of healthcare services, including community hospitals, primary and specialty care clinics, senior facilities, and more.

Responsibilities
  • Supplying instruments, suture, and specialty items
  • Maintaining aseptic technique during sterile procedures
  • Ensuring accurate identification and handling of specimens
  • Counting sponges, sharps, and instruments
  • Assuring availability and accurate functioning of supplies and equipment
  • Modifying clinical interventions based on population served
  • Nurturing a culture of improvement, efficiency, and innovative thinking
  • Anticipating the surgeon's needs
  • Following appropriate action in emergency situations
Qualifications
  • Complete one of the following by hire date: Military Surgical Assistant, LPN (licensed in MN) Surgical Assistant, or Surgical Technologist training
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through Health Care Providers (or ability to obtain by hire date)
  • Preferred qualifications: Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program, AST certification or certification eligible at time of hire, and 1 to 3 years surgical tech experience
