Job Overview

An Industrial Electrical Supervisor is responsible for overseeing a team that installs, repairs, and maintains electrical systems, wiring, and associated equipment. This role involves working with underground cabling and conduit, as well as managing equipment installations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret blueprints and specifications to ascertain the project scope, including material locations, quantities, and sizes.
  • Determine necessary tools for various tasks.
  • Recognize safety hazards and implement measures to mitigate risks.
  • Guide the team in daily safety protocols.
  • Oversee workloads, inventory, equipment, and reporting processes.
  • Fabricate, bend, and install conduit as per blueprints.
  • Modify and assemble cable trays according to project specifications.
  • Route cables through designated pathways.
  • Install and set up electrical devices and systems.
  • Connect wires and cables to electrical apparatus, including breakers and control panels.
  • Conduct tests on electrical components to ensure continuity and correct voltage levels.
  • Examine electrical systems and components to identify potential hazards and confirm operational integrity.
  • Establish and manage temporary power systems.
  • Install and maintain grounding systems for all equipment and structures.
  • Utilize rigging or cranes to hoist tools and equipment into position.
Qualifications

Essential Skills and Experience
  • Prior experience with Zachry Group is required.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints and schematics.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with high voltage systems.
  • A minimum of 4 years as an Industrial Electrician, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Ability to lead and manage a team of journeymen and apprentices effectively.
  • Experience in maintaining records and reporting on time, cost codes, equipment, and personnel.
  • Understanding of basic electrical principles, including ohm's law.
  • Capability to install and modify cable trays using both hand and power tools.
  • Skilled in bending and cutting conduit with various tools.
  • Expertise in cable pulling techniques for routing cables.
  • Familiarity with specialized electrical tools, such as ohm meters and multi-meters.
  • Ability to terminate both high and low voltage wiring.
  • Mechanical and electrical knowledge of components relevant to new construction projects.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting electrical systems.
  • Ability to identify different types, gauges, and colors of wiring.
  • Strong adherence to instructions and reliability in administrative tasks.
  • Experience with lockout/tagout systems.
  • Commitment to following safety regulations.
  • Willingness to work on schedule and accommodate overtime as necessary.
Additional Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience as an Industrial Electrician.
  • 2+ years in a supervisory role.
  • All required knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
  • Ability to meet all physical demands of the job.
  • Capability to work at heights exceeding 300 feet.
  • Reliable transportation is essential.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current or former employee of Zachry or Zachry ROF.
  • Licensed Journeyman Electrician.
  • NCCER certification for Industrial Journeyman Electrician.
  • Formal or technical education in a related field.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, squat, sit, and lift regularly.
  • Effective communication skills are necessary.
  • Must be able to use hands for various tasks, including signaling and manipulating tools.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to work at heights and utilize fall protection when necessary.
  • Must be able to work in various weather conditions while wearing appropriate PPE.
  • Adherence to personal protective equipment requirements is mandatory.
