The Sanitation Technician I is tasked with the daily upkeep and sanitation of designated processing zones, equipment, and facilities. This role includes the completion of all requisite departmental documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and chemical handling guidelines. Promptly report any unsafe conditions or equipment to the supervisor.
- Comprehend and implement all Good Manufacturing Practices and Standard Operating Procedures, ensuring that cleaning standards are met safely and efficiently.
- Conduct cleaning and sanitization of food processing areas and equipment as required.
- Maintain inventory of GMP supplies, including hair nets, ear plugs, hand soap, and paper towels, and manage waste disposal.
- Oversee the cleanliness of break rooms and production offices, ensuring the garbage compactor area is free from debris and trash is collected from the facility's exterior.
- Complete the initial daily sanitation task schedule, conduct weekly food defense checklists, and register tool counts at the end of each shift.
- Manage supply crib inventory, ensuring timely submission of requests to the warehouse.
- Collect water samples weekly and calibrate pH meters three times a week to comply with local regulations.
- Actively participate in all company sustainability initiatives.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to wet conditions and a variety of temperatures. Frequent exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and potentially hazardous chemicals is expected. The noise level in the work environment is typically loud. Employees must be capable of standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, or crouching regularly. The ability to lift and/or move up to 45 lbs safely is essential, along with the capability to maneuver equipment and manage waste disposal.
Qualifications:
- Required: Ability to work efficiently and safely while maintaining thoroughness.
- Required: Basic oral and written communication skills.
- Required: Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

- Preferred: Previous experience in sanitation.
- Preferred: Prior exposure to chemical handling.
