Seasonal Opportunities with New York State
We are seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join our team as seasonal park and recreation employees. As a seasonal employee, you will have the opportunity to work in a variety of settings, including park offices, maintenance areas, historic sites, and recreation facilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with park and trail maintenance, including cleaning, pruning, and repairing facilities and equipment.
- Provide interpretation and education to visitors at historic sites and parks.
- Support environmental education programs and activities.
- Work as a lifeguard or in other aquatic roles.
- Assist with patron services, including answering questions and providing information.
Qualifications and Requirements
While there are no civil service minimum qualifications, applicants should be able to work independently and as part of a team, and be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Many positions require a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
Working Conditions
Seasonal employees typically work between Memorial Day and Labor Day, although some positions may start earlier or end later. Work schedules may vary, and employees may be required to work weekends and holidays.
