Position Summary:
We are currently seeking a Lead Wind Technician to join our team at the Ledyard Wind Farm in Lakota, Iowa. This full-time, permanent role is essential to our operations, providing significant opportunities for career growth and advancement within the organization. As the highest level technician, you will be responsible for leading teams, managing complex technical challenges, and ensuring optimal performance of wind turbine systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and guide technician crews in executing maintenance and operational tasks.
• Engage with clients and stakeholders as directed by management.
• Provide training and mentorship to junior technicians.
• Conduct routine and emergency maintenance on substation equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve warranty-related issues.
• Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports as required.
• Be available for on-call duties as needed.
• Support management with vendor contracts and compliance with regulations.
• Maintain a strong focus on safety protocols.
• Climb turbine towers regularly, reaching heights of 300 feet or more.
• Identify and rectify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults in turbine systems.
• Implement energy isolation procedures following Lock Out/Tag Out protocols.
• Perform maintenance tasks on wind turbines, ensuring high-quality standards.
• Complete necessary documentation and reporting within Maximo.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED required.
• External candidates must have at least 6 years of relevant experience, with certification as Turbine Technician I and Electrical Operator I & II.
• Internal candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a Wind Technician with Deriva Energy.

Preferred Skills:

• Associate's degree or certification in Wind/Renewable Energy.
• Experience with Vestas and other wind turbine technologies.
• Knowledge of high voltage and substation maintenance.
• Familiarity with mechanical and electronic testing tools.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• CPR and AED certification.
• Forklift certification.

Working Conditions:
Must possess a valid driver's license and be prepared for travel. The role involves exposure to various environmental conditions and requires physical stamina, including the ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work at heights up to 400 feet.
