Job Summary

St. Francis Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Recreation Therapist to join our team. As a Recreation Therapist, you will be responsible for conducting a therapeutic recreation program within the hospital to facilitate the rehabilitation of physically and mentally disabled patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct patient participation in selected activities such as games, social activities, sports, or music to create an atmosphere of sociability and provide a means of creative expression.
  • Create an environment that allows patients to explore their own potential, cultivate positive morale, and minimize distress of illness.
  • Develop and implement a therapeutic recreation program that meets the needs of patients with diverse physical and mental abilities.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure that the recreation therapy program is integrated into the overall treatment plan.
  • Conduct assessments to identify patient needs and develop individualized recreation therapy plans.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Recreation Therapy or a related field.
  • Certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) or Registered Therapeutic Recreator (RTR) preferred.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in Behavioral Healthcare, rehabilitative, or SNF setting preferred.
  • Behavioral Violence Prevention within 6 months of hire and maintain current annually.
