About the Position

This is a full-time, permanent position for an Environmental Engineer 3 in the Parks Development department located in Tumwater, Washington.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop capital budget submittals and assist with project scoping and cost estimations.
  • Analyze and design potable water systems, wells, treatment facilities, reservoirs, sewer systems, pumping stations, and on-site sewage systems.
  • Prepare project design reports for submission to authorities having jurisdiction for permits or approval.
  • Assist with the selection and recruitment of specialty consultants on selected projects.
  • Negotiate and prepare work scopes and fees, and prepare consultant agreements.
  • Manage consultant agreements to ensure deliverables are consistent with project/contract scopes.
  • Coordinate with other state parks departments as required for project developments.
  • Negotiate with other public entities, regulatory agencies, utilities, and public and private project stakeholders concerning easements, services, regulatory permitting, and other agreements/requirements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree with major study in one of the following engineering fields: sanitary, water resource, civil, geotechnical, environmental, chemical, structural, or related field.
  • Two years of experience in environmental engineering.
  • Registration as a professional engineer in Washington state.
  • A valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree with major study in one of the following engineering fields: sanitary, water resource, civil, geotechnical, environmental, chemical, structural, or related field.
  • Knowledge of state government and parks rules and regulations.
