Key Responsibilities:
- Actively participate as a dedicated team member in the composites laboratory, executing layups and filament winding tasks to fulfill client requirements and timelines.
- Construct custom components following engineering specifications, technical guidelines, and both written and verbal directives.
- Work closely with engineers and production supervisors to guarantee that components meet or surpass established standards.
Daily Tasks:
- Produce composite components according to technical specifications utilizing layup and filament winding techniques.
- Engage in the complete composite manufacturing process, including resin mixing, mold and mandrel preparation, part fabrication, oven curing, trimming/grinding, assembly, and quality inspection.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of equipment and laboratory space on a daily and weekly basis.
- Exhibit meticulous attention to detail by inspecting components for manufacturing flaws and compliance with tolerances.
- Suggest corrective actions; document findings, recommendations, and necessary repairs; categorize items for acceptance or rejection; log test results and inspection data; and compare outcomes with specifications to ensure adherence to standards.
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Certification in composites courses is preferred, along with training in filament winding.
- 2-10 years of experience in a composites manufacturing setting (pre-preg, wet layups, and/or filament winding).
- At least 1 year of experience using hand tools, power tools, and standard mechanical measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.).
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team, adhere to deadlines, accurately follow engineering drawings, and utilize custom tooling, fixtures, and equipment.
- Possession of an active security clearance is preferred.
- A valid and clear driver's license is mandatory.
Additional Requirements:
The selected candidate will undergo a government security evaluation and must meet the eligibility criteria for access to classified information. Candidates must be U.S. citizens.
