Senior Finance Technician

The Senior Finance Technician will perform professional, administrative, and technical work in maintaining the fiscal records and systems of Anson County. This role involves a variety of accounting tasks, including bank reconciliations, tax and other revenue collections, journal entries, and generating financial reports.

• Perform general ledger and payroll functions, accounts receivable, and preparation of reports.
• Reconcile accounts, process journal entries, monitor and post assigned revenues, and provide financial data to departments.
• Assist departments with budget activities and submit required reports to various agencies.
• Prepare and process bi-weekly payroll for the County, resolving discrepancies and making adjustments as needed.
• Balance all monthly insurance invoices and record and balance all payroll data as required for the annual County audit.

• Considerable knowledge of finance, accounting, payroll accounting, information technology, and advanced-level command of Microsoft Excel.
• Working knowledge of the organization and functions of county government and the financial issues that impact them.
• Excellent communication, networking, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to compile, evaluate, and reconcile a variety of accounting records and reports.
• Ability to make arithmetic computations accurately and with reasonable speed.

• Minimum of an associate degree in accounting, finance, or closely related field.
• Three (3) years of relevant experience, preferably including governmental financial reporting and/or auditing experience.

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field and/or five years of experience in accounting or work in a finance setting.
