Job Summary

The Assistant Director of Housekeeping is responsible for providing leadership and direction to the Housekeeping Department, ensuring that all guest rooms, public areas, and employee areas meet the highest standards of cleanliness and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the analysis of departmental issues and recommend courses of action to improve and/or enhance the overall department.
  • Control inventory and payroll expenses, as well as perform P&L analysis.
  • Ensure that all standards of cleanliness and maintenance are consistently met throughout the department by all associates.
  • Provide supervision of assigned Housekeeping associates and areas to ensure job duties are completed.
  • Assist with the daily operation of the Housekeeping department and act as manager on duty for the department as applicable.
  • Counsel associates, including completion and administration of written performance appraisals.
  • Provide training to all Housekeeping staff as applicable.
  • Inspect and grade work performance of associates to ensure standards are being met.
  • Represent the hotel with professionalism and decorum.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Previous housekeeping supervisory or management experience, with thorough knowledge of all housekeeping procedures.
  • High School Diploma required, advanced degree in hospitality-related field preferred.
  • Supervisory skills, with the ability to successfully develop and retain a quality staff and maintain harmonious associate relations.
  • Good interpersonal skills and verbal communication skills.
  • Complete knowledge of operations of all cleaning equipment and material, including vacuum cleaners, push carts, and normal cleaning chemicals.
