Job Responsibilities

The Qualified Medication Aide is responsible for:

• Setting up and administering medications according to physician orders and state/federal regulations
• Displaying knowledge of medication side effects, interactions, and nursing implications
• Maintaining inventory of medications and charting routine medications
• Providing personal care and treatment functions for residents
• Creating a clean, comfortable, and safe environment for residents and ensuring their needs are met
• Attending and participating in scheduled training, educational classes, and orientation programs to maintain certification and enhance quality of care

Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates must possess:

• A high school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent
• Graduate of an approved Nurse Aide Training Program or eligibility to enter such a program and pass a state test within 120 days from date of employment
• Understanding of medication administration procedures and completion of a state-approved training course
• Ability to perform basic math functions and make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
• Prior experience in a healthcare environment is desirable
