Job Title: Peer Specialist

WellLife Network is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Peer Specialist to join our team. As a Peer Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing direct mental health services to individuals participating in rehabilitation and recovery services.

Job Summary:

The Peer Specialist will work closely with recipients to facilitate their recovery processes, focusing on developing self-help skills, support systems, coping strategies, and increased hope and self-esteem. This position requires a strong understanding of mental health services and the ability to empathize with and relate to individuals with mental health disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Teach skills to individuals and groups to promote recovery and self-sufficiency.
  2. Advocate for recipients and negotiate with service providers to ensure access to necessary resources.
  3. Travel to and from different sites to provide support and assistance to recipients.
  4. Verbally engage and empathize with consumers based on common experiences.
  5. Assist consumers in identifying community supports and facilitating linkages.
  6. Participate in activities of other staff members in their absence or during periods of staff shortage.
  7. Represent the agency at meetings and trainings as needed.
  8. Maintain confidentiality at all times and report incidents as required.
Qualifications:

We are seeking an individual with a strong understanding of mental health services and the ability to empathize with and relate to individuals with mental health disabilities. A high school diploma or GED is preferred, but not required. A driver's license is a plus.

Experience with mental health self-help activities, peer support or peer advocacy programs, or recipient-run organizations is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
