Character Designer

The Character Designer is a key member of our creative team, responsible for bringing characters to life through innovative and visually stunning designs. Working closely with the Director, Art Director, and other creative leads, you will explore multiple concepts to craft the perfect look, feel, and personality for each character.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the creative team to develop and refine character designs, considering downstream departments and production requirements.
  • Create multiple iterations of each character, including poses, expressions, and turnarounds, in both rough pass and approved final designs.
  • Propose design approaches that balance creative vision with practical considerations.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to meet project deadlines and deliver high-quality results.
  • Communicate effectively with the Art Director to resolve design issues and ensure consistency across the project.
Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in animated feature films, TV series, or games is highly valued.
  • Ability to articulate creative ideas and communicate effectively with the team.
  • Excellent draftsmanship and skills in character pose, facial expressions, and character turnarounds.
  • Outstanding research skills and knowledge of costume design, anatomy, and volumetric drawing.
  • Stylistic versatility and ability to adapt to different visual languages.
  • Proficiency in Photoshop and other relevant software.

The anticipated base salary for this position is $42.64/hour to $72/hour, and the role qualifies for benefits pursuant to the collective bargaining agreement.
