OBJECTIVE
The Head Chef reports directly to the Executive Sous Chef and oversees the Sous Chef team. This role entails managing scheduling, recruitment, training, and exhibiting leadership, coaching, and organizational capabilities on a daily basis. The Head Chef fosters a motivating atmosphere by being accessible to both management and team members, exemplifying expected behaviors, and keeping the team informed about immediate objectives and plans.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sous Chef - Sno Caf & Deli
- The Head Chef is accountable for all facets of kitchen operations, including conducting regular inspections of the facility, delegating responsibilities to meet standards, and communicating any facility requirements to the appropriate department.
- The Head Chef determines production needs, facilitates the production process, assigns relevant tasks to the Sous Chefs, and supervises these tasks until completion.
- The Head Chef identifies hiring needs for the department and coordinates these efforts with HR, the Executive Sous Chef, and Sous Chefs.
- The Head Chef manages all administrative responsibilities of the outlet in the back of house as assigned by the Executive Sous Chef, including daily operational logs, team member evaluations, and monitoring and approving daily attendance.
- They are responsible for overseeing training, leading, and coaching all employees within their venue, with a direct focus on training the Sous Chefs and Lead Cooks.
- Encourage leadership development among staff by setting an example, teaching essential leadership qualities, and recognizing and nurturing natural leaders within each group.
- Oversee ordering, product specifications, food quality, and end-of-month inventory; maintain controls to minimize and track waste.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma / GED; Recognized Equivalent of a High School Diploma (RED) or Foreign High School Diploma (FHD); and
- Five (5) years of culinary experience with at least two (2) years in a supervisory or Sous Chef role required; knowledge of proper food handling practices; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong organizational and communication abilities.
- Proficient in computer applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook).
Education and Experience:
- Culinary Degree or ACF Certification.
Salary Information
Starting salary: $75,544.59/year
