About the Role

European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI) is seeking a highly skilled Archaeologist to join our team. As an Archaeologist at EBI, you will be responsible for conducting file reviews, background research, and field surveys to identify and document cultural resources. You will also be responsible for authoring technical reports and completing Federal Communications Commission Forms 620 and 621, as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct Class I Surveys, including map, aerial, and literature reviews, and review SHPO databases for known archaeological sites and surveys.
  • Conduct Class III Surveys/Phase 1A & Phase 1B surveys, visiting proposed project sites and conducting pedestrian surveys and/or systematic subsurface testing.
  • Record archaeological sites and complete relevant site forms and determinations of eligibility.
  • Monitor archaeological sites during construction.
  • Author technical reports, including Class III reports and desk-based analyses.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Anthropology or Archaeology required.
  • Must meet state Principal Investigator requirements and/or have a minimum of two years' full-time experience in the region in research, writing, teaching, interpretation, or other demonstrable professional activity with an academic institution, historic organization or agency, museum, or other professional institution.
  • Register of Professional Archaeologists preferred.
  • Must be Secretary of the Interior Qualified by meeting the archaeological qualifications described in the Secretary of Interior's Professional Guidelines (Federal Register 48:190:44738-44739) (United States Department of the Interior 1983).
