Position Overview:

The Patient Eligibility Specialist plays a crucial role in determining patient eligibility for various governmental assistance programs such as Medi-Cal, SSI/SSDI, and Third Party programs. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting thorough assessments via telephone or in-person to evaluate patient needs.
  • Completing and submitting applications in accordance with established protocols.
  • Maintaining communication with patients, families, and county representatives to ensure the successful processing of cases.
  • Updating and managing patient information within the hospital's electronic database.
  • Participating in interdisciplinary meetings to provide updates on patient cases.
  • Offering support to other client sites as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-2 years of experience in customer service or office settings, preferably in healthcare.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is advantageous.
  • Proficient in basic office tasks and computer operations.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Typing speed of at least 30 words per minute.

Position Type: Full-time; Non-exempt

Schedule: Alternative work week schedule.

Additional Information: Assessment testing and background checks will be conducted post-offer.
