Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to patients from neonate through geriatrics, adhering to community standards for clinical practice, Family Medicine protocols, and professional Nurse Practitioner standards.
  • Examine patients, prescribe treatment when indicated, and provide preventive and restorative care for individuals and families requiring acute and chronic healthcare.
  • Practice within the scope of New York State Nurse Practitioner regulations and Federal DEA prescriptive regulations, if registered.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to coordinate team functions and resident education.
Requirements
  • Education: Fulfills the educational requirements to be a licensed NP in NYS; specialization in Family Practice highly desirable.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience as a registered nurse prior to completing a Master's program is desired; minimum 1 year experience as a practicing Family Nurse Practitioner in an ambulatory primary care setting is desired.
  • License/Certification Required: Licensure to practice as a nurse practitioner in the State of New York; certification by the State of New York for specialty practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner with full prescriptive privileges.
  • Skills: Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; proficient, efficient, and safe independent clinical practice capability.
