We are currently seeking a skilled Construction Financial Analyst to become a vital part of a prestigious privately held Real Estate Development Firm in the Southeast. Role Summary:
The selected candidate will oversee the financial operations related to in-house General Contracting activities, focusing on owned properties, multifamily developments, and various capital projects. This role includes the preparation of comprehensive financial reports for stakeholders, as well as managing monthly construction and development funding requests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and review of monthly funding requests for construction and development projects.
- Input development-related invoices into the Job Cost system, ensuring accurate approvals and coding.
- Coordinate the processing of payables upon receipt of funding from financial sources.
- Maintain an up-to-date Work in Process (WIP) schedule for the General Contractor, ensuring accurate revenue and cost recognition through the percentage of completion method.
- Collaborate with the Construction Contract Administrator to estimate costs for ongoing contracts, ensuring proper financial reporting.
- Establish and manage job and contract details in the Job Cost system, including budgets and change orders.
- Calculate and document monthly fees for projects and operational entities.
- Act as the primary accounting liaison during property lease-up phases, ensuring accurate recording of lease charges and deposits.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and verify the accuracy of income statement accounts, preparing the Monthly Financial Workbook for development projects.
- Conduct reconciliations for all assigned bank accounts.
- Calculate month-end accruals for various operational and construction projects.
- Record monthly transfers related to interest, escrow payments, management fees, and other financial activities.
- Prepare journal entries for depreciation, insurance, property taxes, and other financial adjustments.
- Assist with the preparation of supporting documentation for annual audits of the General Contractor and related developments.
- Provide support to senior management on special projects as required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the Construction Industry.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred.
- Familiarity with Yardi software is advantageous.
- Proficient in advanced Excel functionalities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- A strong team-oriented mindset.
