Job Summary

The Registered Nurse Labor and Delivery Specialist serves as the leader of the Nursing Care team, responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient-focused, outcome-oriented care. This role requires developing competencies for functioning safely in all areas of Labor and Delivery Services, including newborns, adolescents, and adults.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans for patients in Labor and Delivery
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care
  • Provide education and support to patients and families on labor, delivery, and postpartum care
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest evidence-based practices and guidelines in Labor and Delivery
Requirements
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 30 days of employment start date
  • Neonate Resuscitation (NRP) certification within 6 months of employment start date
  • Registered Nurse license in the state of Louisiana or compact licensure
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support, or CPR for Healthcare Providers certification within 30 days of employment start date
  • Graduate of a Nursing Program from an accredited school
  • Pediatric Trauma certification during orientation
