Job Summary

The Nursing Supervisor, Labor Delivery is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and productivity of assigned nursing and unit-based personnel to provide a safe, caring environment for patients, families, and staff. This role fosters professional nursing practice, shared decision-making, inter-professional teamwork, and collaboration to achieve positive patient and staff outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate patient care through collaboration with inter-professional team members in planning, implementing, and evaluating patient plans of care.
  • Identify potential problems and/or resources for patients and families, and provide timely follow-up to critical incidents and sentinel events.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures, budgets, and the allocation of resources to achieve departmental and organizational goals and objectives.
  • Provide nursing care as needed, and ensure staff members maintain competency based on standards of practice for patient population.
  • Facilitate practice changes among nursing staff through quality and performance improvement initiatives, and use of best, evidence-based practices and research findings.
  • Role model, teach, and mentor professional leadership and accountability for nursing's role within the inter-professional healthcare team.
Requirements
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of practice.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong clinical and leadership skills, with ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
