Job Title: ED Paramedic

Bronson Healthcare is seeking a skilled and compassionate ED Paramedic to join our team at Bronson Methodist Hospital. As a key member of our Trauma & Emergency Center, you will provide high-quality patient care and work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct patient care under the supervision of the RN, implementing evidence-based interventions and administering prescribed medication and treatment.
  • Utilize advanced skills and procedures as outlined in the attached skill sheet, maintaining clinical competency for job-related tasks and assignments.
  • Participate in ongoing educational activities related to appropriate knowledge and professional issues, maintaining professional records that provide evidence of competency and continued ongoing educational activities.
  • Collaborate with patient, family, and others in the conduct of nursing practice, partnering with multiple health disciplines to effect change and generate positive outcomes for the patient and family, based on the plan of care.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent education and experience required.
  • Successful completion of an accredited paramedic program required.
  • Three (3) years' experience as a Paramedic in a pre-hospital setting preferred.
  • Currently licensed as a EMT-P (Paramedic) in the state of Michigan.
  • BCLS Certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification preferred, required within 1 year of hire.
  • PHTLS preferred, maintained or required after hire.
  • BTLS preferred, maintained or acquired after hire.
  • Previous hospital experience is preferred.
  • Excellent communication in customer service skills are required.
  • Basic computer skills preferred.
Work Environment:

The ED Paramedic will work in a clean, well-lighted, and temperature-controlled environment, occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts/equipment, or other hazardous conditions, infectious disease from blood/airborne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Demands:

The ED Paramedic will be required to regularly assess patients, talk and hear, stand and walk, and perform fine motor skills. Must be able to occasionally stoop, crouch or kneel, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and move quickly to gather equipment and medication to respond to emergency situations. Occasional sitting. Must have good body mechanics for lifting, carrying, bending, overhead stretching/reaching, and pulling.

  • The licensed EMT-P (Paramedic) implements care as directed by the registered nurse.
  • Performs advanced skills and procedures as outlined in the attached skill sheet.
  • Maintains clinical competency for job-related tasks and assignments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • The EMT-P (Paramedic) attains knowledge and competency that reflects current nursing practice.
  • The EMT-P (Paramedic) evaluates one's own practice in relation to professional practice standards and guidelines, relevant statues, rules and regulations.
  • The EMT-P (Paramedic) interacts with and contributes to the professional development of peers and colleagues.
  • The EMT-P (Paramedic) collaborates with patient, family, and others in the conduct of nursing practice.
  • The EMT-P (Paramedic) integrates ethical provisions in all areas of practice.
  • The EMT-P (Paramedic) integrates research findings into practice.
  • The EMT-P (Paramedic) provides leadership in the profession.
