Job Title: Family Attorney

Job Description

Our law firm is seeking a highly skilled family attorney to assist clients in navigating the complex legal issues of family law, including child custody, child abuse, and domestic violence. The ideal candidate should be equally familiar with prenuptial agreements, divorce, alimony, child support, and real estate, and be able to effectively engage in oral debate and negotiation even in highly stressful and emotional situations.

Responsibilities:

* Organize and maintain client files to ensure they are kept current
* Communicate with senior partners and paralegals to effectively move through the civil litigation process
* Ensure clients are effectively represented at court hearings as needed
* Divide marital assets, including real estate, when necessary during divorce proceedings
* Draft pleadings, motions, contracts, marital settlement agreements, judgments, and orders for a high volume of cases
* Contribute to developing the strategy of a case and find the rules of procedure to back up that case strategy
* Project confidence and competence when dealing with people on behalf of clients
* Identify opportunities to help clients build a new life

Qualifications:

* Great negotiation and communication skills, particularly in stressful and emotional situations
* Undergraduate degree with a legal background and Juris Doctor degree required
* Extra consideration for those with a criminal justice background
* Member in good standing and actively involved with the ABA (American Bar Association)
* Experience at a legal firm working on family law and real estate issues (determining marital property) for at least 1-2 years is required
* Previous family law experience is highly desired - previous litigation experience required
* Experience in estate planning and probate is highly desired
* Must have a minimum of 3-5 years of litigation experience
