Key Responsibilities of a Breast Imaging Specialist
As a Breast Imaging Specialist, you will play a crucial role in identifying breast tissue irregularities by conducting mammographic imaging studies and presenting findings for diagnosis.

- Welcome patients by verifying their identity, reviewing imaging requests, and confirming any special instructions.
- Alleviate patient concerns by providing clear explanations of imaging procedures, detailing equipment usage, and addressing any questions.
- Perform mammography studies by accurately positioning patients, adjusting compression settings, instructing patients to hold their breath, and managing equipment controls to capture high-quality images.
- Ensure minimal radiation exposure for patients and staff by adhering to safety protocols.
- Maintain the quality and production of mammograms by following established standards, developing images, assessing results, and making necessary adjustments.
- Ensure the functionality of mammography equipment through routine maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating repairs as needed.
- Keep mammography supplies and patient gowns organized by managing inventory and processing laundry.
- Foster a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to and enforcing established standards and procedures.
- Document patient services by accurately completing patient records.
- Enhance your professional knowledge by engaging in educational opportunities, reading relevant publications, and participating in professional organizations.

Qualifications
- Current BLS certification.
- Completion of formal Radiologic Technology training from an accredited institution, meeting the criteria for registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and/or Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT).
- Certification in Mammographic Radiologic Technology.
- Proficient in operating advanced computer systems.
- Strong interest in scientific and technical skills.
- Ability to interact compassionately with patients.
- Effective communication skills.
- Capability to work independently and follow detailed instructions.
