Job Title: Sports Instructor

Are you passionate about sports and working with youth? Do you have a desire to make a positive impact in your community? We are seeking a qualified Sports Instructor to join our team at the YMCA of Florida's First Coast.

Job Summary:

The Sports Instructor will be responsible for implementing and supervising sports programs for the YMCA, its members, and the community. This includes instructing practices for various sports, supervising games, and promoting YMCA facilities and programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Represent the YMCA and maintain positive relationships with members, parents, and youth.
  2. Instruct practices for Volleyball, Soccer, Basketball, and Flag Football at scheduled times and supervise games.
  3. Promote YMCA facilities and programs, and assist with special events as needed.
  4. Arrange for substitutes to teach scheduled classes when necessary.
  5. Manage equipment, resources, and programs to deliver high-quality programs.
  6. Ensure all safety practices are upheld in the facility.
  7. Instruct at and/or help with summer camps, practices, and clinics.
  8. Ensure all YMCA standards and best practices are implemented and followed.
  9. Apply YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to best practices, emergency procedures, medical situations, and child abuse prevention.
  10. Ensure the health and safety of all members/guests.
  11. Inspect physical space to ensure safety, orderliness, sanitation, and cleanliness of facilities.
Requirements:
  1. Must be at least 18 years of age.
  2. A minimum of one year previous experience coaching specific sports, as well as in-depth knowledge of rules and guidelines.
  3. Must present a professional image to parents and the general public.
  4. Must be highly organized, possess superior communication skills, and teaching abilities.
  5. Must be able to develop harmonious relationships with staff members and community leaders.
  6. Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications.
Physical Demands:

Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform essential functions and supervise program activities in various indoor and outdoor locations.
