Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Vulnerability Management: Assist in the implementation and maintenance of vulnerability scanning tools, ensuring safe and timely scanning with minimal impact on scan targets.
  • Automate Processes: Utilize scripting languages such as bash, PowerShell, and Python to automate processes and improve efficiency.
  • Log Parsing and Analysis: Parse logs in an automated fashion using Grep, AWK, and Sed to identify and classify cyber events.
  • Integration and Reporting: Create integration of vulnerability management data with other State of Michigan enterprise services, and develop reports to measure the effectiveness of vulnerability remediation.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Interface with other agencies to make recommendations on how to improve the security posture and reduce the number of security-related vulnerabilities.
  • Trend Analysis and Dashboards: Conduct trend analysis, create dashboards using data scripting, and provide metrics on the performance of security responsibilities and controls.
  • Scalable Vulnerability Scans: Plan, schedule, implement, and maintain scalable vulnerability scans using modern vulnerability management scanning tools for high-complexity devices.
  • Internal Vulnerability Audits: Conduct internal vulnerability audits of servers, network devices, applications, and other devices to identify and classify cyber events.
  • Security Procedures Review: Review and validate security procedures to ensure adequate security procedures have been developed to identify and classify cyber events.

Requirements:

  • 5 years of experience in IT Security
  • Extensive experience with vulnerability management scanning and reporting tools
  • Experience with Linux, Windows, and Unix
  • Experience with PowerShell and Python
  • Experience with log parsing using Grep, Sed, and/or AWK
  • Preferred experience with SQL and ETL
