The Registered Nurse (R.N.) provides high-quality patient care in compliance with the SC Nurse Practice Act and organization protocols, policies, procedures, and guidelines. The R.N. demonstrates clinical competency utilizing evidence-based practices and research in all areas of the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and outcomes. The R.N. collaborates with patients, families, and other members of the healthcare team to determine patient priorities and treatments. The R.N. participates in hourly rounding and bedside shift report, and is responsible for demonstrating competency for all new equipment and procedures. The R.N. provides clinical guidance to students and ancillary staff, and successfully completes hospital and unit-based orientation programs. The R.N. formulates a plan for professional growth, and ensures compliance with all clinical expectations regarding regulatory requirements. The R.N. identifies appropriate standards of care, and/or collaborative clinical pathways to guide the plan of care. The R.N. prioritizes nursing interventions for an assigned group of patients, and assesses assigned patients' medical history, admitting diagnosis and physician's orders, obtaining nursing history, performing physical assessment, evaluating diagnostic data, and interviewing patient and family to determine patient needs. The R.N. demonstrates knowledge of professional nursing practice and theory, and assures continuity of care through effective decision-making resulting in quality patient care. The R.N. documents all aspects of patient care by following established charting procedure to show the patient's progress or any change in the patient's condition.
Work Schedule
The PRN Tier 1 Nurse must work four hour shifts in a 6-week period, with two of the 4 shifts being a weekend. The R.N. must also work 1 major summer and 1 major winter holiday.
Unit Description
The 4th Floor at Pelham Medical Center is a 24-bed Acute Care Orthopedic/Spine/Surgical Unit. The types of cases seen on this unit are Post-Surgical Ortho/Spine/Neuro and Med Surg/Telemetry. The typical nurse to patient ratio is 1:5. The unit is a highly engaged team that is dedicated to providing high-quality, patient-focused care through multidisciplinary collaboration and extensive teamwork. The unit values optimizing workflow and efficiency, work-life balance and employee wellness, team-based committees, and offering employees professional development opportunities. The unit has recently renovated, spacious, state-of-the-art patient rooms capable of Remote Telemetry AND Vital Sign Monitoring. The most utilized equipment is readily available and includes Vital Sign Machines, Oxygen Flowmeters, Suction Set-Up with Regulators, Thermometers, IV Pumps and Channels, Bedside Commodes, SCD Pumps, Walkers, and more located in every patient room.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Novice to expert nurse
- Current R.N. licensure in the state of South Carolina or compact state
- BLS provider
