BASIC PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION:

We are seeking a highly skilled R&D Engineer to join our team at Kubota. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for developing attachments, implements, and accessories for our products to increase sales and enhance the Kubota brand.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES:

  • Work with vendors to develop and release new products, expanding and enhancing the Kubota brand.
  • Develop and maintain technical information necessary to support new product releases, including technical specifications, CAD drawings, and assembly instructions.
  • Perform match testing on production orders to ensure newly developed products meet dealer and end-user expectations.
  • Develop a basic understanding of relevant industry standards and regulations for assigned products.
  • Develop a fundamental understanding of top three competitive products for assigned products and key market applications.
  • Attend trade shows, industry compliance meetings, and training sessions to expand product knowledge.
  • Work to understand the root cause of service issues reported to Engineering and provide necessary support to develop and implement solutions.
  • Assist with Sales and Dealer Meetings to set up equipment, demonstrate new products, and meet teardown.
  • Provide safe and effective support for tool usage and mechanic skills as needed for new development projects.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, or Agricultural Engineering required.
  • Up to 4 years of related engineering experience preferred.
  • Proven knowledge and understanding of mechanical engineering and ability to perform mathematical calculations at an engineering level.
  • Knowledge, skill, and ability to safely operate agricultural and construction equipment, including training and being trained in the same.
  • Ability to use a computer to enter/retrieve information and proficiency in Word, Excel, and CAD software.
  • Strong diagnostic, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
  • Able to manage projects and provide self-leadership when appropriate.
  • Understanding and skill with software programming a plus.

EQUIPMENT OPERATION:

  • Agricultural, construction, and other Kubota equipment, including tractors, backhoes, and utility vehicles and attachments.
  • Maintain, modify, repair, and/or assemble equipment.
  • Gather voice of the customer (VOC) details and develop an industry understanding of present conditions and future changes.
  • Travel to support projects and surveys.
  • Computer, copier, phone, printer.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • The position will require walking, standing, and sitting in field, shop, office, and computer environments.
  • Exposure to damp/wet conditions, chemicals, fumes, moving mechanical parts, electrical shock, and excessive noise level at times.
  • Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) is provided and must be used.
