About the Weekend ICU RN Opportunity

We are excited to offer a unique weekend-only program for Registered Nurses (RNs) in our Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU). This program is designed to provide a better work-life balance for RNs who prefer to work weekends only.

Eligibility

RNs in inpatient nursing settings with 24/7 scheduling are eligible for this program. The program requires RNs to work 48 out of 52 weekends per calendar year, with the option to request up to 48 hours of PTO on their weekend shifts.

Compensation

RNs will receive an additional $10 per hour plus their base pay. For full-time RNs (working 3 12-hour shifts per week), the stipend will apply to the two weekend shifts and not the third weekday shift.

Scheduling

RNs will be required to work weekends, defined as Friday and Saturday night for night shift. RNs can request up to 48 hours of PTO on their weekend shifts or exchange a weekend shift for a weekday shift. RNs may also request 1 holiday off per calendar year that falls on the weekend.

About the Surgical ICU

The Surgical ICU is a 22-bed intensive care unit in the Meijer Heart Center at Butterworth Hospital. We specialize in the care of critically ill trauma and surgical patients, including geriatric rib fractures, traumatic brain injury, multi-trauma, and critical care adult burn patients. Our nurses are competent in ventilator support, life-sustaining titratable medications, and assist with procedures such as bedside tracheostomies and central line placement.

Qualifications

To be eligible for this program, you must have an Associate's degree in Nursing, be a MI Registered Nurse (RN), and have AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days. AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is required within 6 months. 1-2 years of inpatient RN experience is preferred.
