Job Overview

EOS Accountants LLP is seeking a highly skilled Payroll Accounting Specialist to join our team. This role will be responsible for assisting with the preparation of individual income tax returns and payroll processing on behalf of clients.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of tax concepts, analytical skills, and proficiency in tax accounting software. They will also possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both orally and in writing.

About the Role

This full-time position (35 hours) is exempt and requires English/Japanese bilingualism. The salary for this role is estimated at $58,240 per year, based on industry standards and market research in the area.

Responsibilities
  1. Prepare and file 1040 tax returns and other tax forms;
  2. Prepare tax equalization calculations;
  3. Assist in responding to notices and act as client representative with tax authorities;
  4. Conduct gross-up computations for expatriates;
  5. Maintain payroll operations by collecting and entering data;
  6. Review payroll reporting and withholdings for wages for accuracy;
  7. Develop and maintain relationships with clients;
  8. Communicate effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing, to build business relationships;
  9. Demonstrate broad, in-depth understanding of tax concepts, actively pursue increased tax knowledge through client assignments, and keep abreast of current tax developments;
  10. Work on multiple tax engagements simultaneously and manage time and work effectively;
  11. Use communication and people skills to work collaboratively within a diverse team environment and effectively communicate with peers, supervisors, and clients to foster positive working relationships;
  12. Understand and use various software applications (Excel, Word, Power Point, tax preparation software, etc.) to perform day-to-day functions.
Requirements
  1. An undergraduate degree in Accounting, or a payroll concentration within an accounting program from an accredited college/university;
  2. A CPA or EA license, or qualified candidate to sit for the CPA exam;
  3. Strong tax accounting and analytical skills;
  4. Strong computer skills: proficiency in tax accounting software, Excel, Word;
  5. Excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills;
  6. Business level proficiency in English required – Dual business level proficiency in Japanese preferred/required;
  7. Detail-oriented and able to multi-task.
