Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Asphalt Paver Operator to join our team at Midsouth Paving, Inc. in Montgomery, AL. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the efficient operation of our asphalt paving machines, ensuring high-quality results and meeting project deadlines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate asphalt paver machines, including rubber-tired and track-type machines
  • Manipulate hand or foot levers to control movements of paving machine, spreading and leveling asphaltic concrete on sub-grade of highways and related surfaces
  • Regulate width of screed and perform other related duties, such as adding or removing screed extensions, installing or removing automatic devices, grade log or other accessories associated with the machine
  • Thoroughly understand all aspects of the paving industry, including preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate size, job specifications, oil consistencies, compaction, and other details related to asphalt paving
  • Perform minor servicing and maintenance on equipment, referring major problems to the supervisor
Requirements
  • One to two years of related asphalt and road construction experience and/or training
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
