Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Speech-Language Pathologist to join our Outpatient Clinic team at Hilo Medical Center. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for evaluating, developing, and implementing effective care plans for patients with communication and swallowing disorders.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate patients with communication and swallowing disorders to identify treatment needs and develop individualized care plans.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans to improve communication and swallowing skills, including speech, language, and cognitive therapy.
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify patients' strengths and weaknesses, and develop strategies to address areas of need.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and therapists, to ensure comprehensive care and coordination of services.
  • Provide education and training to patients, families, and caregivers on communication and swallowing strategies, as well as on the use of assistive devices and technology.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Current certification in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in outpatient rehabilitation, preferably in a hospital or clinic setting.
  • Strong clinical skills and experience in evaluating and treating patients with communication and swallowing disorders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies and other diagnostic procedures.
  • Knowledge of electronic medical records (EMRs) and other healthcare technology.
  • Experience working with diverse patient populations, including children and adults with complex communication and swallowing needs.
