Job Summary

New River Electrical Corporation is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join our team. As an Electrical Estimator, you will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing contract documents to develop detailed estimates for various electrical projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Estimate Development: Review project plans and specifications to develop comprehensive estimates for electrical projects.
  • Customer Engagement: Participate in customer meetings and site visits to understand project requirements and site challenges.
  • Risk Identification: Identify risk issues and their order of magnitude.
  • Subcontractor and Supplier Management: Solicit information and pricing from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Estimate Management: Meet estimating deadlines and manage the flow of bid information between customers, contractors, vendors, and operations employees.
  • Proposal Creation: Create and transmit scope letters and quotations.
  • Customer Follow-up: Follow up with customers on proposals.
  • Project Support: Support project managers during the pre-construction phase of projects.
  • Large Project Estimates: Assist senior estimators on large project estimates.
  • Schedule Creation: Create project schedules to define construction workflow and deadlines.
  • Bid Proposal Submission: Prepare and submit accurate and professional bid proposals and supporting documentation.
Requirements
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of electrical and/or civil estimating experience in an industrial environment, or a minimum of 5 years of field supervision or relevant experience.
  • Skills: Familiarity with materials and equipment take-off process, ability to perform conceptual estimates based on specifications, strong mathematical, communication, and computer skills.
  • Education: General understanding of MS Office with the ability to become proficient in the use of Excel.
  • Qualifications: Ability to compose basic and complex proposals, technical documents, and formal letters, ability to make presentations to diverse groups, ability to communicate with clients, engineers, and internal operations.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, ability to meet deadlines, ability to work on multiple estimates simultaneously.

There may be occasional limited travel for off-site meetings, events, or other business matters. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
