Job Summary:
The Critical Care Unit physician provides high-level care to patients at The Queen's Medical Center. Responsibilities include direct patient care, teaching students and residents from the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine, and assisting with patient management.
Clinical Responsibilities
  • Provides in-house services for continuous 12-hour periods as scheduled by the Medical Director.
  • Serves as attending physician for own patients and consultant when requested.
  • Assists attending and/or consultant physician in managing patients.
  • Evaluates and stabilizes patients in emergent situations until an attending or consultant can be contacted.
  • Evaluates ER patients for potential admission to the MICU.
  • Evaluates hospitalized patients considered for transfer to the MICU.
  • Responds immediately to assist critically ill patients throughout the Medical Center.
  • Supervises and assists house staff in evaluating and managing team care patients.
  • Teaches and supervises medical students and residents.
  • Participates in educating nursing staff and allied healthcare professionals.

Salary: $374,043/year, with opportunities for productivity and quality incentives.
