Position Overview
Be Well, a program established in 1966, is dedicated to providing community-based services for substance use disorders. We offer a gender-responsive and trauma-informed environment, utilizing evidence-based practices that acknowledge the impact of trauma on substance use and criminal histories, particularly for women.
For clients facing co-occurring mental health issues, we deliver integrated services that address both substance use and mental health as primary concerns. Our residential facility accommodates up to 15 women and 15 men seeking recovery from substance use disorders.
The Nursing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing nursing personnel to ensure high-quality client care and effective team performance, aligning with the organization's philosophy, goals, policies, mission, and vision.
The Nursing Supervisor provides clinical and administrative support to Site Nurse Supervisors, including managing client care staff schedules, liaising with external agencies, and performing other tasks as assigned by the Associate Medical Director/Medical Director, as well as other essential daily activities that reflect the agency's mission and values.
This role involves collaboration with Behavioral Health Program Directors, promoting integration, and working with leadership to ensure the success of all programs. Availability for night and weekend shifts may be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct supervision, training, and guidance to site nursing supervisors.
- Ensure compliance of all direct reports with HR policies, procedures, and performance expectations.
- Offer ongoing feedback and conduct timely formal performance evaluations.
- Manage performance improvement plans and formal written warnings as necessary.
- Deliver and arrange training and resources for direct reports and nursing staff.
- Provide coaching and support to ensure productivity and client care standards are met.
- Assist site nursing supervisors in the recruitment, selection, hiring, and termination processes.
- Maintain open communication with the Associate Medical Director/Medical Director and Behavioral Health Program Directors regarding employee matters.
- Schedule and facilitate team meetings to support client care and staff development.
- Assist site nursing supervisors in triaging client medical concerns in collaboration with community medical partners.
Clinical Oversight Responsibilities
- Ensure clinical oversight of all nursing treatment services provided by nursing staff within their scope of practice.
- Guarantee that nursing staff deliver strengths-based, trauma-informed, and culturally competent services.
- Ensure compliance with quality management standards through regular chart reviews and utilization reviews.
- Oversee timely completion of documentation, including progress notes, assessments, treatment plans, and discharges.
- Manage crisis situations related to service delivery and ensure proper documentation and follow-up.
- Facilitate client case conferences as needed.
- Promote effective communication and collaboration among all members of the behavioral health team.
Administrative Duties
- Ensure that all treatment service plans and activities align with the organization's values, mission, vision, and strategy.
- Collaborate with management to maintain positive relationships with contractors and collaborators.
- Ensure compliance with all programmatic or project contractual requirements.
- Work with management to ensure nursing staff adherence to policies and procedures.
- Consult with the Associate Medical Director/Medical Director regarding client assignments and workload distribution.
- Ensure timely execution of lab orders and review of lab results.
Direct Service Responsibilities
- Provide direct services as necessary and within the scope of practice, including crisis intervention, assessments, and treatment planning.
- Maintain clinical oversight of the nursing department.
- Assist providers with medication management for patients.
- Ensure compliance with all organizational policies and procedures within the medical department.
- Track medication adherence and coordinate pharmacy services.
- Confirm documentation for every scheduled appointment, whether attended, missed, or canceled.
- Provide medication education and collaborate with staff and student interns.
