POSITION SUMMARY

The Cardiac Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (RN) plays a crucial role in the assessment, planning, and execution of educational initiatives for patients within the cardiovascular inpatient sector. This encompasses care for individuals recovering from surgical procedures such as CABG, as well as those undergoing catheterization and managing various cardiac conditions. The RN is also responsible for educational leadership, participating in departmental committees, and contributing to Performance Improvement initiatives. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse healthcare teams are vital.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct and coordinate care within designated areas
  • Evaluate cardiovascular inpatients and create tailored educational strategies
  • Recognize individual risk factors and assist in risk assessment
  • Document all patient care activities accurately
  • Design personalized educational plans aligned with patient objectives
  • Conduct discharge classes and facilitate transition processes
  • Engage in patient education initiatives and community outreach
  • Monitor operational and salary expenditures to remain within budget
  • Comprehend performance improvement principles and maintain confidentiality
  • Keep current with necessary certifications and knowledge in cardiac care

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Valid Florida Registered Nurse license
  • Prior experience in cardiology patient management
  • Critical care experience is advantageous
  • In-depth understanding of cardiac diseases, anatomy, physiology, and exercise physiology
  • Certifications in Basic and Advanced Life Support
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
