Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Park Enforcement Officer to join our team at Greene County, OH. As a Park Enforcement Officer, you will be responsible for enforcing park rules and regulations, protecting visitors and facilities, and ensuring the overall safety and security of our parks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol park areas in vehicles, on foot, and on bikes to detect and prevent any potential threats or hazards.
  • Enforce park rules and regulations, issue warnings and citations as necessary, and serve arrest warrants when required.
  • Investigate accidents and criminal violations, enforce traffic laws, and inspect buildings and facilities to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Interact with park visitors, provide information on park facilities and services, and assist with educational programs and events.
  • Perform undercover operations, conduct surveillance, and work plain clothes investigations to prevent and detect crime.
  • Prepare and maintain daily logs, citations, and detailed reports, and inventory and purchase equipment and supplies as needed.
  • Assist with presentations and educational programs, including bike safety, park ranger talks, and natural resource programs.
  • Maintain park facilities by performing routine maintenance on park grounds and facilities, and assist with preparations and clean-up of departmental programs as needed.
Requirements
  • Completion of core coursework in an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice or a related field.
  • 12 months of law enforcement experience.
  • Must be 21 years of age per Section Ohio Revised Code.
  • Valid Ohio Driver's License.
  • State of Ohio Peace Officer Certification.
  • State of Ohio Firearms Certification.
  • CPR Certification.
  • First Aid Certification.
Benefits

As a full-time permanent employee of Greene County, you will be eligible for a wide variety of benefits, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, optional life insurance plans, wellness program, employee assistance program, and deferred compensation plans. The County pays 80% of the health care premium and 39% of the dental premium. All full-time employees are eligible for $50,000 group life insurance paid 100% by the County.
