City Attorney

The City of Beaverton, OR seeks a seasoned legal professional to lead the City Attorney's Office as the City Attorney. This strategic role will provide expert counsel to the City Council, City Manager, and staff on complex municipal law matters.

As City Attorney, you will be responsible for:

• Developing a deep understanding of the City's organizational structure, goals, and priorities.
• Partnering with the City Manager to identify and mitigate potential legal risks.
• Serving as an active member of the Executive Leadership Team, collaborating across departments to advance Council goals.
• Providing sound legal advice on ongoing initiatives and navigating complex legal issues.
• Supporting the implementation of the new City Charter and transition to the Council-Manager form of government.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

• A minimum of eight years of progressively responsible legal experience in municipal law.
• Direct leadership experience managing attorneys and paraprofessional legal personnel.
• A broad and diverse municipal government background with expertise in multiple areas of law.
• A strong budget and financial management background.
