Prevention Counselor - Social Services
About the Role:WESTCARE INC is seeking a skilled Prevention Counselor - Social Services to provide support and guidance to individuals and families affected by substance abuse. This is a unique opportunity to make a difference in your community while advancing your career in social services.
About You:To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of substance abuse issues, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A bachelor's degree in Addiction Counseling, Criminal Justice, Social Work, or a related field is required. Additionally, a minimum of two years' experience in the field of social services is preferred.
Responsibilities:- Provide community education on substance abuse, HIV/AIDS, and other STDs.
- Identify and recruit consumers for Alcohol Literacy Challenge, PRIME for Life, and Teen Intervene.
- Conduct Universal, Selective and Indicated substance prevention services using Alcohol Literacy Challenge, PRIME for Life, and Teen Intervene.
- Refer clients to services not provided by program.
- Prepare reports on monthly, quarterly and yearly basis.
- Maintain client records in accordance with regulations.
- Bachelor's degree in Addiction Counseling, Criminal Justice, Social Work, or related field.
- Minimum two years' experience in social services.
- Certifications/Licensures: None required.
- Education: Graduation from an accredited bachelors program with a degree in Addiction Counseling, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology or related field is required.
- Experience and Competencies: A minimum of two years experience in the field of social services preferred.
$21.63 per hour
