Cafeteria Assistant

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Cafeteria Helper to join our team at the Hawaii State Department of Education. As a Cafeteria Helper, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our cafeteria services.

• Menu Preparation: Coordinate with food service employees to prepare menu items in a timely manner, meeting meal service times and/or satellite delivery schedules.
• Inventory Management: Review daily production records and secure necessary ingredients/food items and equipment for preparation purposes.
• Cleanliness and Sanitation: Clean and maintain work areas, serving counters, dining areas, and washrooms in a neat, clean, sanitary, and orderly manner.
• Customer Service: Serve students and staff, replenish food and other supplementary items as needed, and provide excellent customer service.
• Team Leadership: Oversees the work of student helper(s) assigned to the school kitchen and attends staff meetings, workshops, and in-service training.

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience: Ability to read, write, and understand oral and written English, follow oral and written instructions, and perform simple arithmetic.
• Temporary Assignment: Claims of Temporary Assignment (TA) experience must be verified and attached to the application.
